Living the Dream

I appear in The Dream. My version of The Dream. The sun blinds me for a second then I am able to see the other dreamers. I choose to dream here sometimes to observe. It is a dream, so those who are able to can do whatever they want and see whatever they want. The platform or blueprint for The Dream is set so each dreamer can develop whatever environment they dream up while still interacting with other dreamers. No one else can see through your eyes unless you embrace or touch and allow your mind to give in to theirs. Holding hands works the best.

I do not stay long because it is not fun. People have turned The Dream into a reality of alternate selves. Most dreamers here have a nice house or apartment, nice clothes, nice cars because that is what they want when they are awake. They see a movie or TV show and think “I want to experience that” and so they enter The Dream. There is no currency, although some people carry cash to further feel the lifestyle. Everything is possible in The Dream.

It started small, but it has expanded to the infinite. Sometimes I go to remote areas I think up. Sometimes I take people with me. Even with choices I still feel under control from the platform. I feel watched, because this is where the government agents do their dreaming. In fact, I believe they are not allowed to dream "freely".

Upon sleeping, every conscious person has a choice to enter The Dream or to "dream freely". The Dream offers lucidity and choice, whereas "free dreams" are difficult to master. I usually accept my own mind when I sleep. I like experiencing my free unconsciousness, because my time awake is already filled with choice. Sleeping pills have become popular since The Dream was introduced. The mind needs to go through the full REM cycle in order to be given the option of The Dream. Some people spend more time asleep than awake, and only spend a few hours a day tending to their physical body.

The Dream appeals to people because you can connect with other dreamers you may never meet while awake. I know several people who have met in The Dream and have married each other. Some people murder other dreamers, run them over in cars, shoot, slice, choke, rape. No one dies in The Dream, so it has become tolerated behavior. I’ve had a wallet stolen once, a wallet I didn’t even know I carried. I no longer dream of possessions.

You can dream of anything with no time restraint or consequences. This is why The Dream bores me. Government agents say it is better for these crimes to be committed while sleeping than while awake. Strong drugs are given to people with mental alterations or developmental challenges in order to have them experience a world where they can do whatever they want, no longer feeling limited by the bounds of their awake mind. It also conveniently limits their physical presence and need of care, a solution the government has been waiting for since it was decided those with mental health issues were considered people.

The Dream does not segregate. Everyone who enters The Dream enters the same platform. Scientists found a way to tap into our abilities of wandering; that is, our minds are able to wander outside our physical confines of the body and journey through unlimited dimensions. It has been called transcending and astro-projecting in the past and was most easily eperienced as the symptom of ingesting hallucinogens. That was in the beginning of the research.

The Dream is just a perception. I imagine the natural physical world still operates the same as it did and would have without The Dream.
